How do I register for a class?

Two options are available for fall 2013. You may register online by going to our website, www.olliuva.org and clicking on online registration. Or you can complete a registration form which is in the back of the print catalog or online. Form of payment is either by check or credit card. Enclose the registration form and your check (payable to UVa Fund/OLLI) or credit card information and mail to the OLLI office — 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 114, Charlottesville, VA  22901. Online registration is the best way to register for fall courses.

It costs $100 per semester to take courses at OLLI.  $25 is the membership fee and $75 is the course cost.  Registrants may take up to 12 units per semester for $100.  If you want to take more than 12 units, there is an additional charge of $25 per course.

In the Valley — Free Parking is available in the New Street Parking Garage. Tokens will be handed out in class.

Are OLLI facilities accessible?

OLLI at UVa encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities.  If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about the physical access provided, please call the OLLI office at 434-923-3600 in advance of your participation or visit.  Most OLLI classes are held at the Senior Center or Meadows Presbyterian Church which are accessible and include one accessible rest room.

Please check the registration policy page in the catalog or call the OLLI office at 434-923-3600 to find out more about dropping, adding, and refunds.  We do not process registrations if the courses you selected are full and will shred the check. If multiple classes are requested and only 1 class is available, we will call before processing.  The $25 membership fee is nonrefundable.

How long does my membership last?

We have two semesters, fall and spring. Fall 2013 membership lasts until December 31, 2013. Spring 2014 membership lasts until June 30, 2014.

Is there a Guest policy for Outings?

Since we are a membership organization, our members are notified first and given priority when signing up for an Outing. If space is available, we allow a guest to attend an Outing.

Is there a Guest policy for Special Presentations?

Since we are a membership organization, our members are notified first and given priority when signing up for Special Presentations. If space is available, we allow a guest to attend a Special Presentation.

May I bring a Guest to class?

If you have permission from the Office and Instructor, and space is available in the classroom, we allow a guest to attend a class ONE TIME ONLY.

If I bring my registration right down to your office, am I assured a place in the course?

No. Registrations dropped off at the office will not be processed until July 9. Because our catalog is distributed over a wide region, we must allow time for everyone in our membership area to either receive their catalog or to view the catalog online. We will open registration on Tuesday, July 9 at 10 am and will process printed registrations at the same time OLLI members are registering online. We believe this system gives all our members equal possibility of enrollment in their chosen courses. Online registration is the best way to register for fall courses.

Do you hold class if the weather is bad or there is a community emergency?

In Charlottesville — OLLI classes in all Charlottesville-area locations follow the Albemarle County Public Schools on cancellations and delayed openings.

In the Valley — OLLI classes in all Valley locations follow the Augusta County Public Schools on cancellations and delayed openings.

Delayed openings only affect OLLI classes beginning prior to 11am. There will be a message on the office phone (434-923-3600) or (877-861-9207) by 8 a.m. on the morning in question. School cancellations are reported on local TV, Radio, and local news and county public school websites.

What benefits do I receive as an Instructor?

While we do not provide financial compensation, you will be provided free tuition at OLLI at UVa for two semesters – the semester in which you teach and the following semester.
