About us

Rivanna River Sacred Harp Singers have been singing since 2002 in Charlottesville, Virginia. We use the shape note traditions’ most current and popular songbook, The Sacred Harp (Denson 1991) as well as the Shenandoah Harmony (2012). Loaner hymnals are available.

No experience is necessary.  Newcomers are always welcome.

Hi, I’m interested in learning how to shape note sing. I have an old-time music background and have sung for many years, just never learned anything formal.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

My name is Lindsay and I’m new to cville. A Richmond friend introduced me to shape note music but I didn’t really have time then to get involved then. I was curious about learning when you might be meeting in July and if it would be okay for me to come check it out to see if it would be a good fit for me.

    Thanks
