Each year the Washington Society participates in three debates against the Jefferson Society:
The Ethics Debate: A philosophical debate held each fall. The fall 2012 topic was held as an exhibition with the topic Resolved: The Single Sanction is unethical.
The Harrison Cup: The humorous debate held in the fall. Fall 2012’s topic was Resolved: Millennials are the worst generation.
The Smith Simpson Debate: The debate on foreign policy held in the spring. Respectively named after the Foreign Service Officer and UVa alumnus. The spring 2012 topic was Resolved: The United States should suspend its partnership with Pakistan in the War on Terror.
