Kay-Buchanan200  kaykayak2017 Hello Students!
By way of introduction, I am Kay Buchanan and I wanted to let you know that I am your Curry Librarian.  You can find me in my office in Ruffner Hall, Room 302 and you can contact me at 434-982-2664 or by email. I look forward to meeting you!

In addition to having the best job in the world, I’m also an avid kayaker. If you are interested in kayaking, UVA’s IMREC staff just posted their new recreation activities for fall including a scenic river kayak trip. These sessions fill up fast!

library orientationWORKSHOP:   An Overview of Library Services and Resources
You need only attend one orientation session.
WHEN:  August 28 and August 30
TIME: Noon – 1:00p.m.
WHERE: Ruffner Hall, Room 302
DESCRIPTION: New and returning students have lots of questions about the library. That’s a good thing! Attend one of these orientations to ask your questions and find answers to common questions such as: Which library has the education books, which library loans out video recorders?  How can you use the Journal Finder to locate online journals? How do you reserve a study room? How do you pay for printing? How do you find library books on a topic using VIRGO? How do you use RefWorks to automatically create APA citations? Which Curry subject guide should you bookmark and use when you do research? Why is UVA Box recommended as the place to save papers?

We will also brief you about data services the Library provides such as those offered by the Library’s StatLab which offers consultations and training in wrangling, analyzing, visualizing, and computing with data! Finally, we will also set up your interlibrary loan account so that you can obtain without cost a book or journal articles the UVA libraries don’t have. Please bring your laptop if you can.

whowhatwhenwherehow JUST FOR CURRY STUDENTS
I created this Curry Library Orientation Guide to help you set up library accounts you will need throughout your journey at Curry and to introduce you to key library services. I also encourage you to attend one of the library orientation session mentioned above.
