A Vos Plumes! The French Writing Center is a website for anyone wanting to brush up on his or her French, or for French teachers looking for practice material for their students.
Students can find guidelines on how to write a good essay in French, how many French teachers grade writing, and tons of practice exercises for grammar and vocabulary. The site is for beginners or intermediate-level learners of French.
Teachers can find articles on writing principles, good assignments, and grading and responding effectively, as well as in-class writing prompts and grammar activities, and grammar practice exercises for students to do at home. Students particularly value the instant feedback these exercises provide. Plus they are free!
Funded through a grant from the University of Virginia’s Teaching + Technology Initiative, A Vos Plumes! has been in operation since 2007. It receives many international visitors each day, and I love receiving emails from all over the world from people who have used it to help them study for exams, refresh their French while studying abroad, or return to French after a long absence. Please keep the messages coming!
The A Vos Plumes! site now has grammar tutorial videos as well! The videos were funded by a Hybrid Challenge grant from the University of Virginia. I hope you will find them useful.
