My Name is Ali Rohani. I was born in Tehran, Iran 21st of March 1984.
I got my diploma form NODET high school (National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents, a special school in Iran which registers students via a nation-wide entrance exam). Afterwards, I received my B.Sc. from Electrical Engineering Department, Khajeh Nasir University of Technology in 2007. Then, I Joined Micro Technology Lab at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, and graduated with M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology. In August 2011, I joined Nano ElectroMagnetics Group (NEMS) Lab at University of Virginia as a graduate student and started my PhD in Electrical Engineering under supervision of Professor Nathan Swami.
My research interests include Studying and quantifying heterogeneity of biological systems like microbial species and tumor-initiating cells using image processing, statistical data analysis, and machine learning. I also design devices for characterization, manipulation and separation of heterogeneous bio particles.
