Please fill out the Registration Form for the meeting and return it to Barbara. If you need the form in a different format, please let her know.
The 2013 ROMAC Annual Conference will be held at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Va. The website for the hotel is www.cavalierhotel.com. The hotel has two facilities, one being a modern beach-front hotel, with outdoor pools, two restaurants, conference facilities, and immediate access to the beach. The other building, which is across the street, is a recently updated, elegant old-style hotel, with a restaurant, big sitting room (which looks like a perfect place for formal afternoon tea), tennis courts, an indoor pool, and great views from the highest point around.
Rooms need to be reserved as early as possible, but definitely before May 29, 2013. This is high season at this location, and the block of rooms will only be held until May 29. To make a reservation, please call
(757) 425-8555 or (800) 446-8199
You must state that you are attending the ROMAC Research Group Conference meeting to ensure that you receive the group rate. The rate will not be adjusted when you check in if you have not made the proper arrangements when you call in your reservation. I was not given a way to make the reservations on-line, so please call the hotel using one of the numbers above.
The block rates are
| Oceanfront Cavalier Hotel | ||
| Room Type | Single Rate | Double Rate |
| Ocean view Double/Double | $179.00 | $179.00 |
| Ocean view King | $179.00 | $179.00 |
| Cavalier on the Hill | ||
| Room Type | ||
| Superior Double/Double | $139.00 | $139.00 |
| Superior King | $139.00 | $139.00 |
In addition, there will be a room tax (currently 13%) which is based on the room rate per night, and a lodging tax (currently $1). A notice of four days is required for cancellations.
For your planning purposes, the closest airport is in Norfolk, and it is about a 30 minute ride to the beach (and the Cavalier Hotel) from there.
The drive from Richmond airport is about two hours. You can visit Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown (or one of them) along the way.
More information and the final program schedule will be posted on the web site as we get closer to the meeting date. If you have any questions, or want additional information, contact Barbara Pilkey by email at bfp@virginia.edu .
