The Society of Architectural Historians and the University of Virginia Press have debuted the new SAH Archipedia– an authoritative resource for architectural historians. SAH Archipedia contains histories, maps, photographs, and other details about over 8,500 buildings around the world.*
Currently, infor
mation in SAH Archipedia comes primarily from the well-renowned Buildings of the United States series. Thus far, material has been entered from Massachusetts (Metropolitan Boston), Rhode Island, Pennsylvania (Eastern and Western), the District of Columbia, Virginia (Tidewater and Piedmont), West Virginia, Michigan, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada, and Alaska. Other volumes will be entered in the future, as well as information about global architecture.
While SAH Archipedia is far from comprehensive in its current state, it does show potential to be a rich and valuable resource for architects and architectural historians. Keep your eye on this one!
* While in BETA, only a portion of these records are available.
